Organizing Committee Chair
Prof. Chengqian Tan, Xi'an Shiyou University
Professor Chengqian Tan graduated from Chang’an University in July 1988 with a master’s degree in prospecting geophysics. In 2008, he earned his PhD degree in mineral survey and exploration from Northwestern University. He was designated as Professor in December 2001 and Senior Professor in September 2011. Besides, he is also a member of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Academic Committee of Xi'an Shiyou University, and the Petroleum Geology Membership Committee of the Shaanxi Petroleum Society. Prof. Tan is mainly engaged in teaching and research work in geophysical log data processing and interpretation, fine reservoir description and reservoir geological modeling. He has made considerable research contribution to processing and interpretation of geophysical log data, explanation and evaluation of reservoir strata and water-flooded zones using neural networks and the grey system theory. He has also developed his own research styles in describing the distribution of remaining oil in the middle and late stages of oilfield development, and 3D geological modeling of oil reservoirs.
